Summer is our Most Critical Time of Need

For families facing food insecurity, summer means one thing: hunger. They can no longer rely on school meals, and families who are already struggling have to try and find a way to ensure their kids don’t go to bed hungry. Sadly, summer is also a time when donations slow down significantly. As we continue to face skyrocketing food costs, Utah families find themselves making tough tradeoffs to keep their families fed. Through our Summer Business Food & Fund Drive, we encourage businesses and organizations of all sizes to host creative food or fund drives in the workplace because, just like hunger, businesses don’t take a summer break.

Organize your family, friends or community group to help you collect and donate food on a larger scale. A food drive is an easy way to collect non-perishable food items for Utah Food Bank to distribute to those most in need. We encourage all those with an interest in helping hungry children and families to start a food drive. Any individual or group—be it a school, business, community group or church--can create a successful food drive! Please note: by providing your own collection receptacles and transportation, you significantly increase the impact of your donation.

Food Donations Change Lives!

Last year, Utah Food Bank distributed 67.3 million pounds of food (that’s 56.1 million meals) via our statewide network of 216 partner agencies, all free of charge. With 9% of Utah’s population, or 289,000 individuals, unsure where their next meal will come from, we have our work cut out for us! Together, we can fight hunger statewide.
