Recently, over 1,200 dancers from 22 studios across the Wasatch Front participated in the annual Will Dance For Food event to help feed kids facing hunger in Utah. All funds raised are used to help other children, so their donations support our childhood hunger programs. Over 3,600 people were in attendance for the 2-day dance competition, and we were presented with their biggest donation to date…$73,000! This annual event has taken place since 2012, and also includes an incredibly successful peanut butter drive every year. In fact, the Will Dance For Kids Project group has raised enough funds and donated enough food to equal over 1.3 MILLION MEALS since our partnership began! (https://matchkicks.com/)
These funds were raised in a variety of ways – competition entry fees, sponsors for participating kids and studios, in-kind donations and they also sell $1 Hearts & Hands tickets for an opportunity drawing to win airline tickets. They also host a live and silent auction, with all proceeds adding to their total donation. Some of the sponsors for their event include JetBlue, ChickFilA, Identity Signs, Alphagraphics South Salt Lake, The Trophy Corner, Fusion Sound & Thread and Ink Design.
We are so grateful to all the dancers, volunteers, sponsors, donors and organizers of this remarkable event and are always inspired to see how hard these kids work to help feed fellow kids across the state who are facing hunger!
