Did you know that April is national Volunteer Month? This month is dedicated to honoring all of the volunteers in our communities and encouraging volunteerism throughout the month (and the year). Last year, we were the beneficiaries of 101,022 volunteer hours. That’s a pretty impressive number on it’s own, but when you consider that is the equivalent of 49 full-time employees, you get an understanding of just how vital volunteer work is to our mission. With a staff of only 104 individuals, we depend on our volunteers more than most people imagine! We simply could not distribute 43.3 million pounds across the state, free-of-charge to our 150 partner agencies, without this help! This month, we recognized some of our standout volunteers from this last year with plaques in our Volunteer Sort Room. Those volunteers included:
- Board Member Volunteer of the Year: Linda Ashton
- Corporate Volunteer Group of the Year: C.R. England/England Logistics
- Individual Volunteer of the Year: Erik Carlson
We thank each and every one of you who volunteer your time with us whether it’s here in our warehouse, at one of our Kids Cafe or Mobile School Pantry sites, delivering food boxes and all the other ways your valuable time is spent helping us in our mission of Fighting Hunger Statewide.
